Thomas Friedman

Three times Pulitzer Prize winner, Thomas Loren Friedman is an American author and political commentator. He is also known as the prominent weekly columnist of The New York Times. 

Thomas L. Friedman was born on 20th July 1953 in St.Louis Park, Minnesota, U.S., where another reporter Lisa Marie Boothe was also born. Born to his American parents, he is of White ethnicity and holds an American nationality.

Married to Ann Bucksbaum

The famous political commentator is living a happy marital life with his wife Ann Bucksbaum, the daughter of the founder of the shopping mall empire Matthew Bucksbaum. 

After dating for many years, Friedman and Ann exchanged their wedding vows in 1978. The pair shares two children from their weddings, both of them are daughters named Orly Friedman (born in 1985) and Natalie Friedman (born in 1988).

The famous political commentator was seen celebrating his daughter Natalie's wedding with Daniel Abraham Winston on 21st October 2012. Daniel is the son of Theodore M. Winston and Denise S. Winston of Wakefield, R.I.

The pair first met at Wiliams College as freshers. Talking about Natalie, she is an editorial assistant in the elections unit of National Public Radio based in Washington, and her spouse serves for a French Public Transportation services company.

Kicked off as a Journalist

Soon after graduating from St Antony's College from the University of Oxford in M.Phil in Middle Eastern studies, Friedman joined the London bureau of United Press International. 

The following year, Thomas was transferred to Beirut, where he lived for two years covering the Lebanon Civil War. Later, he was offered by The New York Times to serve as a reporter. 

Friedman's Report following Terrorism earned him an Award

After the 9/11 attack at twin towers in 2001, Thomas began writing regarding the threat of terrorism and the Middle  East. The following year, Friedman received Pulitzer Prize for Commentary on his reports in commenting on the consequences of the terrorism threat. 

Friedman, moreover, wrote against the excuses made by terrorists who blamed their actions on third-party pressures or influences.

Besides his profession as a commentator and reporter, Thomas has hosted several documentaries aired via Discovery Channel covering stories all over the world. 

During the shoot of the 2004 documentary The Other Side of Outsourcing, Thomas went to a call center in Bangalore and interviewed many Indians who worked there. Later, he traveled to more rural areas in India and debated the pros and cons of globalization.
